Nintendo DS Cat Games
Since the release of the Nintendo DS, there have been a variety of cat games made specifically for the console. These cat games allow players to care for their virtual cats by feeding, grooming and playing with them. Some Nintendo DS cat games even allow gamers to play as a virtual cat, exploring new levels and obtaining items.
Petz Catz Clan
"Petz Catz Clan" is part of the Petz series of Nintendo DS games. "Petz Catz Clan" is rated "E" for everyone. Players care for virtual cats just like they would in real life. Players feed cats, clean up after them and play with them. They also pet and groom the cats. Each time one of these tasks is performed, the cat's bond with the player grows. The game offers a variety of cat breeds to choose from, such as Siamese, American Shorthair and Persian. Additional cat breeds become available after players complete certain levels of the game. IGN, a website that reviews video games and offers cheats, rated Petz Catz Clan 5 out of 10.
Purr Pals
Players choose from among 40 different breeds of cats to care for in this cat game. The game lets players customize their cats from top to bottom. Players determine eye color, whiskers, gender and coat pattern before settling on a name for their new cat. Players have four meters to measure their cat's health and happiness: hunger, grooming, love and play. A healthy and happy cat will have green meters across the board. IGN rated this game 6.5 out of 10.
Love Cat Life
"Love Cat Life" is the most recent cat game to come out on the Nintendo DS console. It was first released in Japan in 2007. The game allows players to care for virtual cats with a number of options. The cats even sing karaoke in a featured mini-game. Wired.com noted that "Love Cat Life" is "Not quite Nintencats, but close," referring to fans of Nintendogs that wanted a cat version of the popular dog game.
