Adopt A Pet At The Dallas Spca

Adopt a pet and make a friend for life.


The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is an independent non-profit organization, funded wholly by donations. According the the SPCA of Texas, they are the leading animal welfare agency in North Texas and provide two animal shelters in the Dallas area. Animals adopted from the SPCA of Dallas have received all of their vaccinations, been spayed or neutered, dewormed, received initial heartworm preventative medication and come with a rabies tag, leash or pet tote and microchip.


Instructions


1. Check the prices to evaluate whether you can afford to adopt a pet at this time. The SPCA of Texas charges $185-$285 for puppies under six months old, $95-$195 for adult dogs, $50 for "VIP" dogs (dogs that have been held at the SPCA Dallas for more than 30 days) and $75 for dogs over seven years of age. Kittens will cost $125, adult cats are $95, VIP cats are $50 and cats over seven years of age are available for $75.


2. Look through the SPCA of Texas Pet Gallery at http://spcafindapet.com/search.php . Scroll through all of the pages, paying attention to the fourth column, which lists the location of the animal. Alternatively, you may visit the Dealey Animal Care Center at 362 Riverfront Blvd. The other SPCA featuring animals for adoption in Dallas is the Martin Spay/Neuter and Wellness Clinic at Village Fair, located at 4830 Village Fair Drive. By calling 214-742-SPCA (7722), you can get in touch with an officer representing both offices.


3. Visit the office of choice to pick up your new pet. The SPCA does not allow you to reserve an animal so if you pick one online, so it's best to go to the shelter the same day.


4. Pay with cash, check, or credit card at the adoption center.
