A charity walk provides one of the best opportunities for contributing to a cause and staying fit at the same time. Besides, you get to meet different people and have some fun at a charity walk. Most charity walk events require a donation or request money for raising funds for the cause they are supporting. If you are passionate about getting into shape and doing good for society simultaneously, find a charity walk near you.
Instructions
1. Start with your local welfare associations. These associations are usually aware of all charity walk events organized in your area. They can provide you with information on the groups organizing such events. You can also visit your local YMCA and shoe stores as these people usually display posters of any such event.
2. Read your local newspaper regularly as news about walk events in your area may be published to attract crowds for the event and the cause.
3. Find out about the charity walk event and see if it fits your type of charity walk. There are charity walks for numerous causes including health, poverty, abuse awareness, prevention and more. Decide which cause you want to support. Charity walks range from fun walks to half-marathon and marathon events. Fun charity walks are usually 3- to 5-mile walks where your walks are not timed; the objective of these events is to give you fun and raise funds for the cause. More official walks include 5k or 10k events (See References 1 and 2).
4. Look for charity walk information online if you want more options. A simple Google search can provide you with information on charity events by local and national organizations in and near your area. Relay for Life by The American Cancer Society and Heart Walk by the American Heart Association are some popular charity walk events. See the Resources section here for websites that offer useful information on different organizations and their charity walk events.
