Baby Shower Games And Fun Ideas

Plan entertaining games for your guests at the baby shower.

If you are planning a baby shower, you need to think about more that just the food, invitations and decorations. You also need to consider what the guests will do at the shower. Come up with fun games and activities to keep your guests entertained during the shower, but make sure they are easy to prepare, so you'll have time to focus on the other things that go with planning a baby shower. Does this Spark an idea?

Baby Alphabet Game

Give each guest a pen and piece of paper with the letters from "a" to "z" written down one side. Set a timer for five or 10 minutes and have the guests try to think of one baby word that starts with each letter of the alphabet. For example, they could write "diapers" for "d" or "pacifier" for "p." When time is up, have everyone trade papers and count how many letters each person filled in. The winner is the person who thinks of the most baby-related words.

Memory Game

Test your guests' memories with this easy game. Assemble 15 to 20 small baby items such as pacifiers, rattles, thermometers and infant booties. Place them on a large tray or hang them from a clothesline. Show the items to the guests for five minutes and then take them away. Give each person a pen and paper to write on and ask her write down as many objects as she can remember. Give a prize to the guest who recalls the most items.

Advice Book

This book will be a fun keepsake for the mother-to-be. Give each guest a piece of paper to write down some advice for the new mom. You can also provide scrapbooking supplies for the guests to decorate their pages and then assemble the advice into a helpful book.

How Big?

Give your guests a chance to guess how big the guest-of-honor's belly is. Pass around a roll of yarn, string or toilet paper and a pair of scissors. Ask each person to cut off a piece that he or she thinks is the circumference of the mom-to-be's belly. Then measure the expectant mother's stomach and compare with the guesses of all the guests. Provide a prize for the person who gets closest. Just make sure you have the mom-to-be's permission before you do this activity.

Name Games

You can use baby names for several fun games and activities. Write the name that the parents have chosen for their new baby, first, middle and last, at the top of a piece of paper and give guests a copy. Tell them that they have three minutes to make as many words as they can with the letters from the baby's name.

For another interesting activity, use a baby name book to find the meaning of the first names of all of the guests at the shower. Write the meaning in one column down the side of a piece of paper and the names of the guests in another column. Give each person a copy and have them try to match the names with the meanings.

Have guests match celebrities with the names of their babies for another easy matching name game.
