Cool Ways To Raise Money For Animals

Cool Ways to Raise Money for Animals

According to the Humane Society of the United States, animal shelters nationwide care for 6 million to 8 million cats and dogs each year. Shelters and animal-related organizations are in need of money and community support to properly care for the animals and find them good homes. To raise money for your local shelter, you'll need to use some ingenuity when planning a creative and cool fundraising event.

Fashion Show Event

Host an animal fashion show. Collaborate with a local animal shelter or Humane Society, and invite the community to a fashion benefit. Dress the animals up for the event, and offer adoption discounts for those seeking a new pet. To financially benefit the shelter, offer a fee to attend the event, and have all proceeds go towards the shelter or Humane Society.

Funny Pet Photo Contest

Plan a funny pet photo contest and invite the community to participate. Charge a small fee for photo submissions, and let the community know that 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit a local shelter. Set up the photo submissions of funny animal photographs like an art show at a well-traveled location, such as your local mall or park. Ask community leaders, such as the mayor or school superintendent, to judge the photos. And auction off the photos to the public for extra funds that will benefit your local shelter or Humane Society.

Community Walk

Host a dog walk. Invite the community to participate in a walk to benefit a local animal shelter or Humane Society. The walkers could be encouraged to bring their dogs to the event. Charge a fee for individuals to participate. This event will not only bring visibility to the shelter, but it will also help the shelter out financially.

Dog Wash

Host a dog wash event. Choose a location, such as a park, to host the event. It's important to first get approval for hosting the event in a public location. Either charge a fee to bathe the dogs or request donations. Give all proceeds to a local shelter or animal-related nonprofit organization.

Yappy Hour Social Event

Host a Yappy Hour social or networking event. Invite local community members and leaders to a social event that will benefit your local shelter. Request both monetary donations and tangible donations, such as pet food or blankets. Collaborate with a local restaurant to host the event, and talk to the manager about offering drink specials for the event.
