Not only will your dog love these delicious homemade dog treats, but also you can make them quickly and inexpensively.

Instructions

Recipe 1

1. Combine 1/4 cup grated cheddar cheese, 1/4 tsp. minced garlic and 2 Tbsp. of canola oil into a small bowl. Mix well with a spoon.

2. Take the mixture out of the bowl and put it onto a piece of plastic wrap laid out on the counter. Use the plastic wrap to roll the mixture into the shape of a log. The log should be approximately eight inches in length and one inch in diameter.

3. Pour ½ cup bran flakes into a plastic zipper bag. Release the air from the bag, seal it up and use your hands to crumble up the bran flakes.

4. Lay down a clean piece of plastic wrap on the counter and pour the crumbled bran flakes onto it. Put the log onto the bran flakes and roll it back and forth several times. Put the log onto a cookie sheet and place it in the refrigerator for one hour.

5. Remove the log from the refrigerator and cut it into 1/2-inch round slices. Store your dog treats in an air-tight container in the refrigerator.

Recipe 2

6. Mix 2 cups of whole wheat flour, 1 lightly beaten egg and 2/3 cups of chicken or beef broth in a large bowl. Stir in 3 Tbsp. of oatmeal and 1 tsp. garlic powder.

7. Lay out a piece of waxed paper onto the counter and sprinkle it lightly with wheat flour. Put the dough onto the floured waxed paper and use a rolling pin to roll the dough out so that it is approximately 1/2 inch thick.

8. Use cookie cutters to cut out the dough. Place the cut dough onto a microwave-safe plate.

9. Put the cut dough in the microwave and cook it on high for five to eight minutes. Check the dough occasionally. Once the dough has hardened, the dog treats are done.

10. Let the dog treats cool for at least five minutes before giving them to your dog. Store the dog treats in an air-tight container.
