Rescue grants help animal rescue organizations give homes to abandoned dogs.
Rescue groups help the community by providing treatment for abandoned and abused dogs and cats, running shelters and working to promote the humane treatment of pets. Grants for rescue groups provide the funding these groups need to continue to exist and promote the well-being of animals.
Maddie's Fund Starter Grants
Maddie's Fund Starter Grants offer money to animal group coalitions working to improve the humane treatment of animals rescued in their communities. Maddie's Fund is dedicated to improving the quality of life for animals in shelters, and provides grant money to coalitions that provide animal shelter, animal control and animal adoption services. The grants can be used for the initial process and planning of a community project, including collecting statistics and reporting data. Maddie's Fund had designed these starter grants to help coalitions begin building a community with a no-kill policy. This way the coalitions can build momentum and later apply for a larger community project grant--also sponsored by Maddie's Fund. Applicants can be awarded up to $40,000, depending on the type of grant. Those interested can download the grant application from the Maddie's Fund website.

DogTime Grants
DogTime is a website designed to give dog owners and dog lovers information about their favorite pets--with a special interest in dog rescue and humane treatment. DogTime currently offers two grants for organizations that focus on rescuing and taking care of homeless or abandoned animals. The technology grant provides organizations the opportunity to purchase essential technology for advertising their operation, including website and email set up, and website management and maintenance. DogTime provides these services for one year. Organizations must exhibit financial need in order to receive the grant, and prove through tax forms or a copy of the budget that they can't afford the $140 fee for the services. The annual grant provides technology to a rescue organization as well: $500 cash. Grant application forms and contact information is available for interested applicants at the DogTime website.

Second Chance Grants
The American Humane Society offers Second Chance Grants to animal rescue and welfare organizations that help abused and abandoned animals find new homes. In addition to the Second Chance Grants, the American Humane Society also offers grants to fund construction, equipment and design purchases. One grant even provides scanners to shelters so they can read surgically implanted animal micro-chips. Grant Applications for the Second Chance Grants, among others, can be found at the American Humane Society website.
