Get Discount Immunizations for Travel. Most overseas travel to third world countries requires several vaccinations. These can consume a substantial part of your travel budget unless you can find them at a discount. Countries requiring vaccinations will not allow entry to anyone who does not have the proper immunization documentation.
Instructions
1. Find a travel clinic in your area to discuss which vaccines you will need for travel to your destination. These clinics have the most current information available.
2. Call your health insurance provider and get up to date information on what immunizations they cover. Most insurance companies offer coverage for common vaccines like hepatitis A and B, meningitis and tetanus.
3. Get as many vaccines at your regular health care provider as you can. He should be able to give you the common vaccines and submit the bill to your insurance provider.
4. Visit your local health department for updates on childhood immunizations, such at tetanus and diphtheria, if you do not have health insurance coverage.
5. Contact your local CDC office for locations offering discounts on travel immunizations and a list of which vaccines they offer. Yellow fever is a common vaccine required for third world countries and is becoming more widely available at health departments.
6. Look for physicians who are willing to donate their time to immunize your group if you are traveling for mission work or other humanitarian efforts. If the administrative costs are waved, this can make the vaccines less expensive.
