Kansas City, Kansas, is the home of universities and community colleges serving the needs of residents and visiting students. These institutions offer a range of academic and professional programs, including medical education and graduate studies. Kansas City Kansas Community College


The Kansas City Kansas Community College is a public comprehensive community college that serves Wyandotte and Leavenworth counties. Its campus is eight miles west of downtown Kansas City. Founded in 1923 as part of the Public School System of Kansas City, the two-year college adopted its current name in 1979. The college grants associate degrees in arts, applied science, science and general studies, as well as technical certificates.


Donnelly College


Donnelly College was founded by the Benedictine Sisters and the Archdiocese of Kansas City in 1949. Today, the independent college continues to operate as a Catholic institution. The college integrates a general education curriculum with career-oriented majors, and offers programs leading to bachelor and associate degrees and certificates. Donnelly's campus is located west of downtown Kansas City.


University of Kansas Medical Center


The University of Kansas Medical Center is a campus of the University of Kansas. It is a major research institution that also provides patient care and higher learning education. A range of undergraduate, graduate, professional, postdoctoral and continuing education programs are offered. The university's schools of medicine, allied health and nursing are located at the medical center. Out of 146 medical schools, the university was ranked 71st in research and 53rd in primary care curriculum in 2011 by "U.S. News & World Report."


University of Saint Mary


The University of Saint Mary is a liberal arts college with undergraduate and graduate programs. Tracing its roots to 1870, Saint Mary became a four-year university in 1974. Its main campus is northwest of Kansas City in Leavenworth, Kansas. In the heart of Kansas City at the Providence Medical Center, the university offers its master of business administration program and degree-completion programs. The university's degree-completion programs include business, education, nursing and psychology.

Tracing its roots to 1884, Haskell Indian Nations University is approximately 40 miles from Kansas City in Lawrence, Kansas.
