Neopets are the virtual animal companions you can create, feed and play with in the "Neopets" online game. Sometimes with a Neopet, as with other pets, you may need to send yours to the pound. Sending your pet to the pound is frowned upon in the game, so the virtual pound keepers may give you some flack as you attempt to abandon your pet. The game designers want to illustrate that a pet is not something you should throw away on a whim, whether in real life or in a virtual world.
Instructions
1. Log on to your Neopets account. At the top of the browser screen, you will see a list of options like "my account," "games," "news" and "pet central." Hover over the option "pet central." A drop-down list will appear with four more options. The fourth option down will say "neopian pound." Select "neopian pound." A new page will load for you.
2. Select the third door on the right of the new screen that appears. The door should be dark blue with a cobweb in the top left-hand corner and the lower right-hand corner. A brown sign is on the door that says "Abandon" as well. When you hover open the door, a gecko with white hair and a white lab coat will be wringing his hands and looking expectant. Evil eyes also shine in the background from time to time. Click the door.
3. Click the button below the Neopet you would like to abandon. The button will say various things like "Fine, throw me away," and "Don't leave me here to die." You will need to click the button several times. Each click on the button will result in a new, more desperate quote from your Neopet. Keep pressing the button until you get confirmation that the abandonment was a success.
