Make Baby Shower Centerpieces

Make Baby Shower Centerpieces

Baby showers celebrate the arrival of a new bundle of joy. Shower the new mom with love and support by hosting a baby shower. Given by family, friends or co-workers, baby shower centerpieces are the first decorations seen as guests and the new mom arrive for the baby shower. Create eye-catching centerpieces that will have the guests talking. If spending lots of money isn't in the budget, try some of these one-of-a-kind ideas. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Use flowers. Consider using fresh flowers, silk flowers or potted plants as your baby shower centerpieces. Select the new mom's favorite flower to use in the centerpieces or coordinate with the theme and colors of the baby shower. Save a few dollars by picking flowers from your own garden to supplement the ones bought from the local store. Place the flowers in a variety of vases or water pitchers. Common flowers to use are roses, peonies, daffodils, tulips, gerbera daisies, hydrangeas and sweet peas mixed with some baby's breath.

2. Try using a fish bowl. Arrange glass marbles at the bottom of a clear fish bowl. Fill the bowl two-thirds full and float rubber ducks in the bowl. Look for fish bowls with a wide opening to allow for a mommy and daddy duck with a new duckling. Float the heads of fresh flowers in fish bowls. Place floating candles in bowls as the baby shower centerpieces. Tie a ribbon around the fish bowls to add an extra touch. Adorn the centerpieces with votive candles.

3. Consider an inexpensive idea. Baby shower centerpieces can be simple and creative to get the job done. Arrange party favors as your centerpiece. Consider small potted plants for each guest as well as the centerpieces. Place a collection of honey jars in the center of the table for a Winnie-the-Pooh baby shower. Design a vase of themed lollipops. Coordinate a basket full of wildflower seeds, potpourri sachets and candy. Fill spice jars with various types of candy or small cookies.

4. Play off the theme of the baby's nursery. Use decorations in the baby's nursery as inspiration for your baby shower centerpieces. Place stuffed animals on the table with balloons attached if the baby's nursery is decorated in Noah's Ark. If the mom-to-be is expecting twins place two of every animal at the table. For a Western themed nursery consider cowboy hats, boots and rope. Turn the hats over and place a potted plant inside. Nautical themes allow for boats, anchors and treasure chests. Nursery rhyme rooms encourage the use of books as centerpieces. Write lines from well-know nursery rhymes on labels to hang from potted plants.

5. Use food as the centerpiece. The new mom will love this centerpiece. Use some of the baby shower food as the table centerpieces such as a tower of cupcakes or cookies with baby decorations. Try a fruit arrangement. This adds color and snacks for guests to nibble. Consider various types of candy in decorative dishes such as truffles, jellybeans and chocolates. Make sure to have a few of the new mom's favorites.
