Indian Restaurants Near Langley Park Maryland

Langley Park, Maryland, is less than 30 minutes from Washington D.C. The area has many National Parks, National Monuments, the Smithsonian Museums, the White House, parks and many universities. Woodlands Indian Restaurant


The Woodlands Indian Restaurant is located in Langley Park. The restaurant creates the ambiance of India featuring sitar music, native lamps aligning the walls and the colors of India are seen around the entire restaurant. The Woodlands serves all the foods of the meal at the same time because in India, meals do not come as courses.


The restaurant takes reservations and does carryout but does not provide delivery. The Woodlands Indian Restaurant serves lunch and dinner and is kid friendly. Vegetarian dishes are available. The house specialties include Malabar Adai, a pancake made of vegetables, Pongal Avial, a rice and lentil dish, Pesarat Uppuma, a crepe dish, Channa Batura, a puffy bread served with chickpeas, and Poori Bhaji, a wheat bread served with potato and chickpea curry. Nearby diners can find the Adelphi Mill Recreation Center and many small parks.


Udupi Palace/Tiffin


Udupi Palace merged with Tiffin the Indian Kitchen and serves south Indian vegetarian dishes. The word Tiffin was first used in 1785 and means lunch. The menu includes both vegetarian and non-vegetarian appetizers, soups, tandoor, poultry, seafood, basmati rice, breads, desserts and beverages. Udupi/Tiffin also serves lamb dishes. Catering is available and reservations can be made for large groups dining at the restaurant.


The restaurant is simply decorated with cream colored walls and small wooden tables and chairs placed closely together to create an intimate space. Hours of operation, as of 2011, are daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. The lunch buffet is served seven days a week. The restaurant treats its patrons like burrah sahib, burrah memsahib, or the big boss. It is its goal to serve fresh, richly prepared meals.


Bombay


Bombay is located in Silver Spring, Maryland, minutes from Langley Park. Bombay's menu includes appetizers, soups, tandoor specials, vegetarian dishes, seafood, rice dishes, and curry dishes. The menu includes a section called Chef's Recommendations featuring entrees served with naan or Indian basmati rice. Desserts include Kheer, a rice pudding, Kulfi, an ice cream made with nuts and flavored milk, and Ras Malai, which is homemade cheese balls.


The restaurant is small with richly colored walls and tablecloths. It was named a January 2008 "100 Best Restaurants" in the Washingtonian Magazine and Zagat Survey rated them a 24 for Food, 15 for Decor, 18 for Service and an estimated cost per dinner of $24, in 2007. The restaurant offers a lunch buffet and is open for dinner.


Ghar-E-Kabab


Ghar-E-Kabab is also in Silver Spring, Maryland. The Ghar-E-Kabab provides a daily lunch buffet and dinner service. Take-out is available for the lunch buffet. Diners may take a little of everything to try. The restaurant has two chefs, a curry chef and kebab chef who use organic ingredients in their dishes. The menu features many of the same items as other Indian restaurants but includes a kid's menu. The restaurant provides catering and serves small parties and gatherings in the restaurant.


The restaurant decor consists of cream colored walls, small square tables with bright white tablecloths, turquoise napkins on all the tables, and red chairs. The colors really stand out in the restaurant. The hours, as of 2011, are dDaily 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
