Petfinder.com
Petfinder is a searchable database of animals for adoption. Animal-care professionals created the Petfinder organization to increase the awareness of the availability of adoptable pets. Listings are welcome from either pet owners or shelter facilities. Pet owners not involved with a rescue group or shelter can register adoptable pets via classified ad. A special page, or home page, allows shelters to record their new pets for adoption. The Petfinder website is an excellent site for pet listings, to find a pet for your home or register a lost pet.
Instructions
Pet Owners
1. Open the website Petfinder.com in your computer browser.
2. Click on "Register" located at the top right-hand side of the screen.
3. Fill out the required information for registration.
4. Compose a classified ad. Appropriate ads will have a reasonable adoption fee. Ads listed as "Free to a Good Home" are not accepted. Ads that encourage breeding or ads selling merchandise will be denied. List the species, age and interesting facts about the animal. Accepted ads will run for 14 days with the option to repost. There is no fee for membership or ad posting.
Animal Shelters or Rescue Centers
5. Open the Petfinder.com website on your computer.
6. Click on the "Register" link at the top right-hand side of the screen.
7. Complete all the information required for registration.
8. Go to your new "Home Page." Follow the instructions provided for designing your new home page.
9. Create your pet listing using the wizard on your home page. Each listing should have a picture and all information available for the new pet.
