Adopt A Pet For Free

Adopting a pet is a rewarding experience for an individual or a big family. Whether you're adopting for the first time or already have a big family of four-legged friends, the experience is heart-warming each and every time. Many pet stores, shelters, or local adoption agencies have plenty of pets for adoption; some are costly and require fee payments. However, if you look around, pet adoption can be free. Common websites such as Craigslist, bulletin boards at local pet stores, and your local newspaper are good ways of beginning your search for a free pet.

Instructions

Using the Internet

1. Look for available pets on the Internet. In today's tech-savvy society, it is the best place to find a free pet. Websites such as Craigslist offer good ads from people who have pets and would like to give them away. Fortunately, if people are in a serious time crunch and need to give away their pets, they will usually do it for free. Access the Craigslist website by typing in www.craigslist.com into your web browser.

2. Click on your state from the list of U.S. cities. Towards the bottom of the second column, look for "Services," and then "Pet." This will direct you to Craigslist's "Pet" search results. From them, you can scroll through and find the pets that are being offered. While the results are varied, go through all of them to see if they have what you need.

3. Email the person who is offering the pet by looking for their email address at the top of the screen (under the title of the ad). If you have decided to adopt a pet, discuss the payment and transportation procedures with the owner, either through their email or by telephone.

4. Access www.adoptapuppyforfree.com for another way to find a free pet. Once you are on the site, there is a link on the right-hand side of the page that says "Puppy WANTED." Once you click on this, go to the bottom of the page and click on one of the recent comments (it doesn't matter which one).

5. Leave your own comment, your name, and your email address. Write a note stating that you are interested in adopting a free puppy, what kind, how big or small, or any other type of information. Keep checking your email to see if anything comes up.

In Your Community

6. Check the bulletin boards in local pet stores or around your community. There may possibly be flyers posted by people looking to give away a pet.

7. Find the classifieds section of your local newspaper. There may be people offering free pet adoption.

8. Place your own flyers around your community or put an ad in your newspaper stating your desire for a free pet. Make sure to include your phone number or email so any interested people contact you about any pets they may have to give away.
