Brunch Restaurants In New York City

New York City has many great brunch restaurants.

In many parts of the country, diners may face a challenge trying to find a reputable restaurant that serves brunch. The challenge in New York City is different. New York boasts so many great brunch restaurants that it can be difficult to decide on one. From classy, upscale restaurants to friendly, down-home cafes, New York City has a number of options for a great brunch. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Penelope

Named after owner Jennifer Potenza's turtle, Penelope is a charming bakery, café and bar all in one. New York Magazine wrote that Penelope "feels like a New England country kitchen." Among the more interesting brunch menu items are French toast with a chocolate hazelnut filling, homemade granola with yogurt and fresh fruit, and the "Sam I Am," a scrambled egg dish with grilled asparagus and feta cheese. As of March 2010 the weekend brunch costs $14 and includes an apple cider mimosa or coffee and juice.

With selections like smoked salmon benedict, brioche French toast, the southern breakfast and huevos rancheros, the Clinton St. Baking Company & Restaurant is another brunch restaurant in the city worth checking out. Brunch is served on Saturdays, Sundays, and Fridays and Mondays of some holiday weekends like Labor Day. New York Magazine twice named Clinton St. Baking Company's pancakes the best in the city. With just 32 seats in its dining room, the restaurant does not take brunch reservations.
