Adopting a Neopet, a denizen of the virtual universe Neopia, is a great way to get a high-level virtual pet with minimum effort and cost. However, the higher the pet's level, the greater its adoption fee. And the more desirable the Neopet's species and type, the faster that pet is going to be snapped up by eager members of the Neopets community, otherwise known as Neopians. Adopting a Faerie Shoyru, for example, is a feat that requires planning, a fast Internet connection and a little bit of luck. But with patience, any Neopian can become an expert pound surfer.
Instructions
1. Ensure you have less than the maximum three Neopets and over 50 Neopoints on hand. If you want to adopt a rare Neopet, your account needs to be at least four months old. You should expect to pay several hundred Neopoints or more for a rarity.
2. Look for adoption threads on the Neoboard's "Neopian Pound" section. People will post plans to abandon specific pets at the pound during certain times. Keep a list of pets you're interested in and the times they're going to be available. Prepare to start checking the pound five minutes before the given time, in case the Neopet is abandoned early.
3. Close down all other programs your computer is running to maximize your browser speed. If your Internet connection is stronger in one area of your location than another, move there. Many other players will be attempting to claim the same pet, so speed is critical.
4. Enter the name of the pet you're waiting for in the pound search bar and refresh continually. If you see the pet appear, click the "Adopt" button immediately.
